Quote: "The president exactly understood who really doesn't want to stop the war. Or rather, he understood that we want to stop the war, he understood that we really want peace. Before, there were a lot of voices that Ukraine doesn't want to stop."
Details: Zelenskyy added that Ukraine wants victory.
Quote: "But first of all, we're focusing on the human lives. If tomorrow we can stop the war, make a ceasefire, it's better than to fight for 10-20 years for the victory and to lose your people. Of course, a ceasefire is better."
I think President Trump has begun to trust me, and I think this is important; I think this is the key when we talk about the change in tone."
Background:
- Zelenskyy also said that the turning point in his relationship with Trump was a brief personal meeting in the Vatican, which took place at St Peter's Basilica in Rome in April 2025.
