Smoke reported over port in Russia’s Rostov after drone attack – photos, video

Smoke has been seen rising over the port of Rostov-on-Don in Russia following an overnight drone attack, according to an OSINT analysis by Russian media outlet Astra.

Details: Residents of Russia's Rostov Oblast reported explosions and fires on the night of 26-27 July. Among the targets reported was the port of Rostov-on-Don.

Analysis of footage recorded by eyewitnesses indicates that smoke was visible over the port after the attack, specifically near the fourth cargo terminal.

The Russian authorities stated that the attack also damaged a residential building at 117Bs5 Beregovaya Street in Rostov.

According to the OSINT analysis, the high-rise residential building is located about 1.5 km from the port of Rostov-on-Don, measured from the port's first cargo terminal.

Slyusar also reported that falling drone debris had caused several fires across Rostov, including at premises belonging to a private business, warehouse facilities and several houses. He said emergency services are extinguishing a fire covering an area of around 400 sq m.

According to the port's own information, the port of Rostov-on-Don is a multi-purpose cargo handling complex.

Although it is located on the Don River, it is classified as a seaport because it is part of the Azov-Black Sea basin transport system and serves international shipping.

The port receives vessels sailing under foreign flags, carries out border clearance procedures for international ships and operates routes to destinations in the Black Sea and Mediterranean basins.

Rostov Sea Multimodal Port LLC operates four cargo terminals located at 30 Beregovaya Street; 17 Levoberezhnaya Street (the Aksay district); 49A Shosseynaya Street; and 42A 1st Lugovaya Street.
