Ukrainian intelligence identifies Russian troops who hit supermarket in Chernihiv with drone
The launch of a jet-powered drone at an ATB supermarket in Chernihiv on 26 July was carried out by Russian troops from the Grom Kaskad Unmanned Aviation Brigade, according to Ukrainian military intelligence.

Quote: "At 16:12 on 26 July 2026, the aggressor state Russia struck an ATB grocery supermarket in the city of Chernihiv with a Geran-4 jet-powered drone.
As a result of this deliberate terrorist strike by the Russians on a civilian facility, two Ukrainians were killed, including a 10-year-old child. A further 25 people were injured, including three children.
DIU of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine is working to identify the unit of the Russian occupation army that committed this war crime."
Details: According to the intelligence service, the jet-powered drone that attacked the Chernihiv supermarket was launched by combat group No. 3 of the Grom Kaskad Unmanned Aviation Brigade. The group's senior officer is A. O. Sergunin.
The war criminals launched the drone, which was equipped with a video camera, from a drone port in the settlement of Navlia, Bryansk Oblast. The identification of the remaining perpetrators and other persons involved is ongoing, DIU added.
The Grom Kaskad Unmanned Aviation Brigade operates within the structure of the aerospace forces of Russia and specialises in long-range drone attacks, including against Ukrainian civilian targets.
Members of the Grom Kaskad brigade are able to sign short-term contracts lasting several months and, without approaching the combat zone, receive the status of "participant" in the illegal war against Ukraine.
DIU identified the commander of the Grom Kaskad brigade last year – war criminal Ruslan Negrub.
Background: Patrol police released footage of the first minutes after the drone strike on a supermarket in Chernihiv. A day of mourning for those killed in the Russian strike on the ATB store is being observed in Chernihiv on 27 July, with 12 people still in hospital.
