Russia to extend ban on petrol exports until end of year

In the current situation, exports could deepen the fuel shortage on the domestic market, but the ban on foreign sales does not resolve problems with fuel supply to remote regions of Russia.

The publication reports that oil refining volumes in Russia fell to 4.1 million barrels per day in June due to attacks on refineries, the lowest level in recent years.

Russia already imposed bans on petrol exports in 2023 and 2024 to saturate the domestic market, driven by drone attacks on refineries that led to reduced petrol output. However, those restrictions lasted only a few months each time.
