Ukraine's foreign minister calls Iranian counterpart: "Our goal is to avoid unnecessary escalation"

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has spoken by phone with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, stressing that Ukraine wants to avoid escalation.

Details: During the conversation, Sybiha reiterated that Ukraine's actions are aimed solely at defending the country from Russian aggression and have never targeted civilian vessels or civilians.
Quote: "This is also true with regard to Iran's statements about their national who died and a civilian vessel that was targeted in a recent incident. Our goal is to counter Russian aggression, which is the root cause of all incidents, and it is Russia who bears full responsibility for all provocations and casualties."
More details: Sybiha also urged his Iranian counterpart to refrain from any steps that could fuel escalation and to end all support for Russia's war against Ukraine.
