Parents and four children from large family killed in Russian missile strike near Kryvyi Rih

Six members of the Voronov family, including four children, were killed in the village of Radushne in Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk Oblast when a Russian ballistic missile directly struck their home on the night of 29-30 July.

Details: According to Oleksandr Vilkul, head of the Kryvyi Rih Defence Council, the family was killed when an Iskander-M ballistic missile launched from Russia's Voronezh Oblast hit their house directly.

At least eight other people, including two children, were injured in the attack.

Oleksandr Hanzha, Head of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast Military Administration, said an 84-year-old woman was seriously injured.

"An 84-year-old woman has been taken to hospital in a serious condition. A 49-year-old woman and two boys aged 6 and 15 have been taken to hospital with injuries of moderate severity. The others will receive outpatient treatment," Hanzha said.

According to local media outlet Svoyi.Kryvyi Rih, Artem Voronov, 47, and Olena Voronova, 41, were raising 10 children. Seven of their children were at home at the time of the strike: 17-year-old Mark, who was studying to become a railway worker in Kryvyi Rih, 15-year-old Dominika, 14-year-old Viorika, 12-year-old Zakharii, 11-year-old Azarii-Ilai, 10-year-old Federika and six-year-old Emiliia.

The family's 18-month-old grandson, Artem, the son of their eldest son, who is currently serving in the military, was also at the house.

The Voronovs' eldest daughter and another son are currently abroad. The family also has a grandmother.

Matvii, one of the family's sons, learned about the deaths of his loved ones through a local social media group.

People in Radushne managed to rescue the family's dog, Rocky, from the rubble.

Two boys aged 6 and 15, who lived in a neighbouring house, were pulled from the debris by local residents before emergency services arrived.

"We ran over and started clearing the rubble. We removed the roof and got the older boy out. The younger one was trapped even deeper under the bed. While we were rescuing them, the house caught fire. All the neighbours came with buckets to put out the flames. The fire was huge, and there was also gas. Before all the emergency services arrived, we managed to dig out the two boys. As for the eight children and their parents in the neighbouring house, we kept calling out, but no one responded," Nataliia, a local resident, said.

Ukraine's Ministry of Internal Affairs said the authorities have information indicating that several people remain missing and that search operations are continuing. The identification of recovered body remains is also ongoing.

Background: Following the attack, 31 July was declared a day of mourning in Kryvyi Rih for those who were killed in the Russian missile strike on Radushne.
