Polish PM: "Zelenskyy warned us that Russians were planning massive attack"

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy informed him about a planned massive Russian airstrike on Ukraine when they met in Lublin on Wednesday 29 July.

Details: Tusk was speaking at a coordination meeting in Lublin, which he convened urgently following a violation of Polish airspace by an object that Polish services are still examining.

He recalled that he had spoken with Zelenskyy yesterday in Lublin, where an air-raid warning was issued on the night of 29-30 July due to the threat of an air attack.

Quote: "The president warned me that they had precise information that Russia would carry out a massive attack on Ukraine and that there are well-founded fears that Russia will be stepping up its attacks on Ukraine, including airstrikes."

Details: Tusk said that cooperation between Poland and Ukraine on modern anti-missile capabilities will continue to develop regardless of various tensions in the relationship.

"I want to stress very clearly that the government will work closely with Ukraine on security matters," he noted.

The prime minister also emphasised that Poland intends to continue helping Ukraine, since this is driven not only by solidarity and a desire to see Russia defeated in the war, but above all by the impact on Poland's own security.
