Trump envoys Witkoff and Kushner may visit Kyiv on Ukraine's Independence Day

US President Donald Trump's special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are likely to visit Kyiv on Ukraine's Independence Day.

Details: According to two sources familiar with the plans, Witkoff and Kushner are expected to arrive in Kyiv in the second half of August and will attend events marking the 35th anniversary of Ukrainian independence.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said yesterday that Trump's envoys could visit Kyiv within the next two weeks. Zelenskyy said he wants to discuss ideas on reviving peace talks aimed at ending the war, but also for them to see the situation in Ukraine firsthand.

Earlier, sources told the Financial Times that Witkoff and Kushner had agreed to visit Kyiv for the first time as part of efforts to end the war.

Trump and Zelenskyy reportedly discussed the matter when they met in Washington on 28 July.
