Zelenskyy explains why only one ballistic missile was shot down during large-scale Russian attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on the night of 31 July-1 August, Ukraine's Air Force managed to intercept only one out of 27 Russian ballistic missiles due to a shortage of Patriot interceptors and called on partners to provide additional air defence capabilities.

Details: According to Zelenskyy, Russia launched 35 missiles against Ukraine overnight – 27 of them ballistic – as well as 185 attack drones of various types.

Quote: "Kyiv was the primary target, but strikes also hit Dnipro, Sumy, Kharkiv and Poltava oblasts. Only one ballistic missile was intercepted, simply because there are no interceptors for the Patriot systems," Zelenskyy wrote.

Zelenskyy added that such a shortage of anti-ballistic interceptors only encourages Russia to carry out these attacks against civilian life.

Quote: "It is critical that partners hear that these capabilities are needed not somewhere in stockpiles for hypothetical scenarios but here and now to contain and stop the Russian war in Ukraine. Every package of ballistic missile interceptors saves the lives of our people. And every night without them results in more casualties," he said.
