Lithuanian embassy damaged in Russian attack on Kyiv

Lithuania's embassy was damaged during Russia's overnight attack on Kyiv, and Vilnius will summon a Russian representative.

Details: Budrys said missiles struck just a few metres from the embassy.

Quote: "Fortunately, our staff did not suffer. Today, the Lithuanian MFA will summon Russia's representative in Vilnius."

More details: Budrys said there are no signs that Russia is genuinely ready to end its campaign of terror against Ukraine.

Quote: "The response is clear: increase pressure on Russia through stronger sanctions and step up support for Ukraine."

Background:

• Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on the night of 31 July-1 August, Ukraine's Air Force managed to intercept only one out of 27 Russian ballistic missiles due to a shortage of Patriot interceptors and called on partners to provide additional air defence capabilities.
• Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said Russia turned Kyiv into "hell" overnight and stressed the urgent need to strengthen air defences.
