Romania issues air-raid warning over aerial asset from Ukraine
Romania's Ministry of Defence issued an air-raid warning on the morning of 2 August in the border county of Tulcea, which borders Odesa Oblast, over an aerial asset coming from Ukraine.

Details: On Sunday morning, radars belonging to Romania's Ministry of Defence detected an aerial asset near the river border with Ukraine, prompting an RO-Alert warning for Tulcea county.
Quote from the ministry: "The National Defence Ministry's radar surveillance system detected an aerial asset near the river border with Ukraine this morning, 2 August, at around 09:30. The National Military Command Centre informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations of the need to alert the population in Tulcea county, which issued the RO-Alert notification."
Details: The asset later disappeared from radar without entering Romanian airspace. The all-clear was given at around 09:52.
Background:
- On the evening of 30 July, Romania scrambled two F-16 fighter jets after detecting aerial assets near the border with Ukraine, with the local population receiving a warning of an air attack threat.
- Until recently, Romania had not shot down drones violating its airspace amid Russian attacks on Ukraine, but this changed in late July.
- On 26 July, Romania shot down a drone violating its airspace for a third consecutive day using a fighter jet.
