German defence minister confirms delivery of latest RCH-155 howitzers to Ukraine

German Defence Minister Boris Pistorius has confirmed that Ukraine is receiving the RCH-155 wheeled howitzer.

Details: Pistorius said the first vehicle of this type had been sent to Ukraine about two years ago.

Quote: "It was here, where you are standing now, ladies and gentlemen, that the first wheeled howitzer destined for Ukraine was stationed two years ago."

Details: Bild reported that only training of Ukrainian service members on these artillery systems in Germany had been officially confirmed, while their actual presence in the combat zone has not been disclosed. It is not yet known whether the howitzers have been used directly in combat.

For reference: The RCH-155 self-propelled artillery system is considered one of the most advanced in the world.

Its main feature is its ability to fire while moving, making it significantly less vulnerable to enemy counter-battery fire and drones. It can fire up to nine rounds per minute at a range of more than 50 km, reach speeds of up to 100 km/h on roads and be operated by a crew of just two people thanks to its fully automated turret.
