Russian missile hits ammonia storage site in Kyiv, leak contained

An ammonia leak has been recorded in the Holosiivskyi district in Kyiv as a result of an overnight Russian missile strike. Emergency services have swiftly brought the incident under control and there is no threat to the population.

Details: A storage tank containing about 300 litres of ammonia was damaged in the massive missile attack, compromising its integrity and causing an ammonia leak.

Specialised services and rescue teams arrived at the scene immediately to deal with the aftermath of the attack. The ammonia leak was fully contained by 02:10.

Kyiv City Military Administration said there is no threat to the life or health of people living in nearby buildings.

A house in the Holosiivskyi district has also been destroyed – search operations are underway for people trapped under the rubble.

Background:

• On the night of 4-5 August, the Russians carried out a combined missile strike on Kyiv using ballistic weapons. Damage was reported at seven or more locations in Kyiv's Holosiivskyi, Obolonskyi, Desnianskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts.
• A woman was killed and at least 12 people were injured in the attack, including an ambulance driver.
