Russia attacks Ukraine with 24 ballistic missiles, four Zircon/Oniks missiles and 115 drones overnight

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 24 ballistic missiles, four anti-ship missiles and 115 drones of various types on the night of 4-5 August. Air defences have destroyed 98 UAVs, while Ukraine's Air Force has not reported intercepting any missiles.

Details: Russia deployed Zircon/Oniks anti-ship missiles from Kursk and Rostov oblasts, while Iskander-M ballistic missiles and S-400 missiles were launched from Bryansk and Kursk oblasts.

Shahed, Gerbera and Italmas attack drones and Parodiya decoy UAVs were launched from the Russian cities of Kursk, Millerovo and Oryol as well as from temporarily occupied Donetsk and Hvardiiske in Crimea.

The Air Force noted that most of the Shahed drones used in the attack were jet-powered.

Kyiv Oblast was the primary target of the attack.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

Quote: "As of 08:30, [Ukrainian] air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 98 Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones in the country's north, south and east.

Hits by missiles and 17 UAVs have been recorded at 26 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at six locations."

Background: Russia launched a large-scale combined attack on Kyiv Oblast on the night of 4-5 August using ballistic missiles and attack drones. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that 14 people had been killed and 22 injured.
