Russian forces captured and shot dead a Ukrainian soldier near the settlement of Myrne in the Volnovakha district of Donetsk Oblast.

Details: The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the war crime resulting in death (Article 438.2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

"The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime," the prosecutor's office stressed.

Background: On 24 July, the prosecutor's office reported that a Ukrainian prisoner of war was shot dead near the village of Yalta in Donetsk Oblast.
