Strikes reported on Crimean airbase used by Russia to launch Shahed drones

Explosions rocked the Hvardiiske military airbase in temporarily occupied Crimea on the night of 6-7 August, triggering a major fire.

Details: According to the Telegram channel, strikes on the airbase were recorded between 03:30 and 03:39, and again between 04:34 and 04:47.

The outlet reported that a fuel and lubricants storage facility at the airbase had caught fire, while ammunition was continuing to detonate.

Witnesses said there were two separate fires, the glow from which was visible several kilometres away.

Krymsky Veter noted that the Russian military uses the Hvardiiske airbase to launch Shahed attack drones.

Background: Ukrainian defence forces also struck the Hvardiiske military airbase in July. At the time, the Security Service of Ukraine said two hangars housing Shahed drones and aviation equipment had been hit.
