Another relative of Russian General Chaiko may have died in Moscow restaurant explosion

Yulia Kirillova, a relative of Russian Aerospace Forces Commander-in-Chief Alexander Chaiko, may have died from injuries sustained in the explosion at the Balzi Rossi restaurant in Moscow on 1 August.

Yulia Kirillova was the wife of Daniil Kirillov, a nephew of General Chaiko through his wife's side. On the day of the explosion, Telegram channels linked to Russian security services published lists of injured, which included a "Yuliia V., 30".

According to leaked database records, Kirillova turned 30 in July, and the "V" corresponds to the initial of her patronymic. Reports said she had been hospitalised with "multiple injuries to the chest and abdomen".

Data from state registers indicate that Kirillova may have died on 4 August, three days after the explosion. She has not logged into her Telegram account since 31 July.

Kirillova was also related by marriage to another woman injured in the explosion, Yevdokiia Kirillova.

According to the outlet, the identities of six relatives and associates of Chaiko who were at the restaurant during the explosion have now been confirmed.

In addition to Kirillova, those killed include the general's son-in-law Daniil Peredriy and his colleague, Major General Valerii Plokhotniuk. Among the injured were Chaiko's daughter Maria Peredriy, his niece Yevdokiia Kirillova, and his in-law Oleksandr Peredriy.

Background

On 1 August, an explosion occurred at the Balzi Rossi restaurant on Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow. The venue had been closed for a private event, reportedly marking Chaiko's 55th birthday.
According to Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee, an unidentified woman attempted to bring an improvised explosive device inside disguised as a gift but was stopped by a security guard.
The blast killed the woman, the guard and one visitor and injured 21 others. Russian media have reported a total of five fatalities.
