Details: Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry said Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova had summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Olesia Ilashchuk over the drone incident on 8 August.
The ministry said the meeting would take place on Monday 10 August, as Ilashchuk has not yet returned to the country.
Background:
- Bulgaria's prime minister said earlier that the drone had entered Bulgarian airspace from Romania before exploding about a kilometre from a compressor station on the Trans-Balkan gas pipeline, near the former Kardam border crossing.
- The Bulgarian Defence Ministry believes it was most likely a Ukrainian Maya decoy drone.
- Ukraine's Foreign Ministry stressed that if the drone was indeed Ukrainian, it had not entered Bulgarian territory as a result of any deliberate action by Ukraine. Kyiv also said it was open to cooperating with Sofia to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
