Zelenskyy: Russia launched 61 missiles against Ukraine over past week, 56 on ballistic trajectories

Over the past week, Russia has used 61 missiles of various types against Ukraine, 56 of which followed ballistic trajectories, as well as more than 1,560 attack drones and 1,540 guided aerial bombs.

Details: Zelenskyy said he had received reports on the aftermath of the latest Russian attacks on Odesa, Kharkiv, Pavlohrad and other cities.

In Odesa and Odesa Oblast, work is continuing to restore the electricity supply following a strike on energy infrastructure. Residential buildings and the port were also damaged. As of the morning of 9 August, eight people were known to have been injured.

In Kharkiv, a direct hit by a Russian drone destroyed four floors of a high-rise building. According to Zelenskyy, two people were killed and dozens injured.

In Pavlohrad, Russian forces carried out strikes near a shopping centre and against energy infrastructure. Nine people were injured, including four children.

Zelenskyy said that over the past week, Russia had used 61 missiles of various types, 56 of them following ballistic trajectories, more than 1,560 attack drones and 1,540 guided aerial bombs.

The president once again called on Ukraine's partners to increase sanctions pressure on Russia and step up supplies of air defence systems to Ukraine.

Background: During the large-scale Russian attack on 1 August, Ukraine intercepted only one of 27 ballistic missiles. Zelenskyy said at the time that the reason was a shortage of interceptor missiles for Patriot air defence systems. In recent weeks, the president has repeatedly stressed Ukraine's critical need for additional Patriot interceptors.
