Russia attacks Ukraine with Kh-59/69 missile and 126 drones: air defence destroys 92 UAVs

Russian forces attacked Ukraine with a Kh-59/69 air-to-surface missile and three Banderol loitering munitions as well as 126 Shahed (some jet-powered) and Gerbera attack drones and Parodiya decoy UAVs on the night of 9-10 August.

Details: Early reports indicated that as of 09:00, Ukrainian air defence forces had destroyed or jammed 92 Shahed, Gerbera and other types of drones and three Banderol loitering munitions in the country's north, south and east.

Hits by 31 UAVs have been recorded at 22 locations and the fall of downed aerial assets (debris) at two locations. As a result of Ukraine's active countermeasures, the Russian missile failed to reach its target. Information on its possible impact site is still being confirmed.

Aircraft, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare assets, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups from Ukraine's defence forces have been involved in repelling the attack.

The attack is ongoing, with Russian drones still in Ukrainian airspace.
