Ukraine's General Staff confirms strike on Russian refinery 1,300 km from border

On the night of 12-13 August, Ukraine's defence forces struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refining and petrochemical complex in Russia's Bashkortostan, located around 1,300 km from Ukraine's state border.

Details: The General Staff reported that a fire broke out at the facility in the city of Salavat following the strike.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes, with a hydrocarbon processing capacity of up to 10 million tonnes per year.

The plant reportedly produces petrol, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene and other petrochemical products, and is also involved in supplying the Russian armed forces.

Background: Users on Russian Telegram channels reported earlier that fires have broken out at the Gazprom Neftohim Salavat oil refinery and a Wildberries hub in Bashkortostan following a drone attack.
