Russia attacks Kyiv with ballistic missiles: 3 injured, Petrivka book market on fire – photo

Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles on the night of 15-16 August, causing fires in the capital's Obolonskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.

Quote from Klitschko: "In the Obolonskyi district, debris fell and fires broke out in non-residential premises at two locations as a result of the enemy attack. Several cars are on fire near one of the buildings.

In the Holosiivskyi district, a fire broke out in a non-residential area."

Update: Kyiv City Military Administration reported in the morning that three people had been injured in the Russian attack.

The State Emergency Service reported that a large fire had broken out at the Petrivka book market near Pochaina metro station in the Obolonskyi district.

At another location, the blast wave caused minor damage to a building but no fire. A non-residential building was also hit at a third location.

Background:

  • On the night of 15-16 August, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on several regions of Ukraine using ballistic missiles and attack drones, targeting Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Kamianske and Kremenchuk.
  • At least five explosions were heard in Kyiv at 02:47.
