Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones: strikes and falling debris recorded at 16 locations

Russia attacked Kyiv, Kremenchuk and Kryvyi Rih with various types of missiles and launched 106 drones across Ukraine on the night of 15-16 August. Strikes were recorded at 13 locations.

Details: Russian forces used Oniks anti-ship missiles, Iskander-M/S-400/KN-23 ballistic missiles, Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles, as well as Shahed-type attack UAVs, including jet-powered versions, Gerbera drones and Parodiya decoy drones.

The main targets of the attack were Kyiv, Poltava and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts.

Early reports indicate that as of 08:00, Ukrainian air defence had shot down or jammed 85 Russian drones and three Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles.

The Air Force recorded strikes by Russian aerial weapons at 13 locations. Debris from downed targets fell at three other locations.

The attack was still ongoing at the time of the report, with several Russian drones remaining in Ukrainian airspace.

Background: On the night of 15-16 August, Russian forces launched a combined ballistic missile and UAV attack on Kryvyi Rih, killing one person and injuring 13 others.
