Russian drone hits car in Sumy, killing man and injuring his wife

A Russian drone has struck a civilian car in Sumy, killing a 59-year-old man and injuring his 50-year-old wife.

Details: Sumy Oblast Military Administration reported that the attack occurred late on the evening of 15 August. It said that a Russian drone deliberately targeted the civilian car, which caught fire after the strike.

The injured woman was taken to hospital and is receiving the necessary medical care.

Overall, two people were killed and two others were injured in Russian attacks across the oblast over the past 24 hours.

In the Velyka Pysarivka hromada , a 51-year-old man was killed in a Russian drone strike.

In the Seredyna-Buda hromada, a 71-year-old woman was injured in a drone attack.

Houses and apartment blocks, an educational institution, vehicles and other civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed across the oblast.

Russian forces repeatedly attacked Sumy with drones during the evening and overnight. According to Sumy Oblast Military Administration, Ukrainian defenders destroyed some of the aerial assets.

The administration added that air-raid warnings in Sumy Oblast were in effect for 20 hours and 29 minutes over the past 24 hours.
