A commander saved the lives of two seriously wounded assault troops on the line of contact after they came under Russian fire. The officer rushed to help them without even putting on body armour, despite the risk that the attack could resume at any moment.

Details: That day, two service members from the 475th CODE 9.2 Separate Assault Regiment were returning after capturing Russian positions. On the way back, they came under attack by Molniya drones. Both sustained serious injuries and could not move.

A ground robotic platform was sent to help them, but Russian forces hit it with a UAV as well.

"The wounded soldiers were left completely defenceless in open terrain, fully exposed to enemy aerial reconnaissance. The next strike could have been their last," the Joint Forces Group said.

At the command and observation post, the soldiers tried to quickly find a way to pull the men out from under fire. Suddenly, aerial reconnaissance spotted a civilian pickup truck on the route to the wounded soldiers, racing straight into the kill zone.

"It turned out that Vladyslav Polskyi, commander of the assault company, jumped behind the wheel without even putting on body armour and rushed to help his men," the military said.

Every second spent in that area posed a mortal danger, as Russian forces had it in full view. But the commander managed to load the soldiers into the pickup truck bed and drive them at high speed to a safer place.

"When the regiment commander is asked why his soldiers take on the hardest assaults while others hesitate, the answer lies in moments like this: they know their commanders do not hide behind them, but are prepared to risk everything to save each and every soldier," the Joint Forces Group added.

Background: It was reported earlier that operators from the 6th Rangers Regiment of Ukraine's Special Operations Forces have taken three Russian service members prisoner and rescued a baby deer they spotted in the bushes during a raid on the Russian positions.
