Quote: "Each person has their own story, their loved ones and their own difficult journey home. Some have heart problems, while some have limited mobility.

Their families are waiting for them in different parts of free Ukraine – in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Kherson Oblast and Dnipro."

Details: Among those who have been brought back is a married couple from the temporarily occupied part of Kherson Oblast. They had been unable to leave because their documents were invalid. Later, the couple learned that their son, who had been defending Ukraine, had been killed.

"Their wish was simple – to return home and have time to say goodbye to their son. To make this possible, we had to resolve the documentation issues and arrange a safe route," Lubinets said.

He added that bringing a person home involves more than simply helping them cross the border.

"After returning, people may still face health, documentation, housing and social assistance issues. They may need support to reconnect with their loved ones and return to their normal lives," the commissioner said.

Dmytro Lubinets addressed people who are currently living in the temporarily occupied territories.

"If you or your relatives want to leave for Ukraine, contact the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. Don't know where to start? Just write or call. We will explain what can be done in your particular situation and help you through this process," Lubinets said.

Background: On 1 July, 10 children and teenagers were brought back from the occupation to Ukrainian-controlled territory. Some of them had been forced by the Russians to obtain Russian passports, humiliated for singing the Ukrainian national anthem at school and forcibly registered for military service.
