Russian foreign minister threatens UK with consequences for "direct involvement" in Ukrainian strikes on Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has threatened the UK with consequences over its "direct involvement" in strikes on Russia in a comment on Prime Minister Andy Burnham's pledge of support for Ukraine.

Details: Lavrov said he "feels sorry for Britain if it is going to stand with Ukraine until the very end".
He told Russian propagandist Pavel Zarubin: "As for the substance of the matter… it means only one thing: the president has warned that we have the right to act in any part of the world's oceans if anyone encroaches on our interests or our property. We also have the right to view Britain's proudly declared direct involvement in missile strikes on Russia as participation in the war, with all the consequences that entails." [N.B. Lavrov was commenting, among other things, on Andy Burnham's statement that London will support Ukraine 100% against Russia and remain by its side "in its hour of need".
Background:
- Earlier, the Embassy of the Russian Federation to the United Kingdom said in a statement that reports that Ukraine is using British-made drones to strike Russian territory "confirm that London is deliberately opting for an escalation of the Ukraine crisis, while hypocritically professing a desire for peace".
- The Russian embassy declared that "the deeper its involvement in the conflict and the greater its support" for Kyiv, "the higher the price it will pay".
- Andy Burnham said London will continue supporting Ukraine as it has done all along, and that this will not change.
