Twenty shots point blank: director of reproductive health centre shot in Kyiv – photo

The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office has reported that the director of a medical centre was shot in the capital in the morning, and an investigation has been launched into an attempted intentional murder.

Quote from the Prosecutor's Office: "At around 10:00, an unknown man fired more than 20 shots at the 71-year-old director of a private medical centre in Kyiv's Sviatoshynskyi district. The armed attacker was waiting for the victim outside. As soon as the head of the medical facility parked and got out of his car, the armed man approached him and opened fire."

Details: Police clarified that the man was the director of a reproductive health clinic.
"The victim is currently in a serious condition in hospital, and the shooter is being sought," the Prosecutor's Office added.
Police stressed that the attacker fired at point-blank range.
"Measures to detain the person involved in the crime are currently underway. A special police operation is ongoing," law enforcement officers reported.
Criminal proceedings have been launched under Article 15.2 and Article 115.1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempted premeditated murder).
Background: Earlier, police reported that a shooting took place in Kyiv on the morning of 3 September, injuring one person. They also said that a special police operation to apprehend the armed offender was underway in the city.
