Ukraine is signing contracts for around 1,000 Patriot missiles, says defence minister
Ukraine is signing contracts for the supply of around 1,000 missiles for Patriot air defence systems.

Details: Khmara also said future missile deliveries will take time, making it necessary for Ukraine to receive missiles from its partners' existing stockpiles before winter.
"Air defence solutions are a separate priority. Ukraine is asking its partners to provide missiles from their stockpiles now in exchange for upgraded missiles to be supplied in the future under Ukrainian contracts," the ministry said.
The ministry added that Ukraine is also emphasising the need for air-to-air missiles and man-portable air defence systems (MANPADS) to intercept cruise missiles and, temporarily, jet-powered Shahed drones.
Background:
- It was previously reported that Germany will urgently provide Ukraine with PAC-2 interceptor missiles for Patriot air defence systems from Bundeswehr stocks.
- On 8 September, it was reported that the European Commission had approved Ukraine's application to purchase interceptor missiles for Patriot systems using funds from the €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan. Ukraine is requesting that over €2 billion be allocated to purchase the missiles.
