Canada to provide C$350 million for interceptor missiles for Ukraine

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that the country will allocate C$350 million (US$253 million) to purchase interceptor missiles for Ukraine's air defence systems.

Quote from Carney: "This C$350 million equipment package will help protect Ukraine's people, its infrastructure, its skies."

Details: Carney said the interceptors wil be supplied through the US Jumpstart programme.

He also said Canada plans to increase its drone production to millions of units over the next two years, with the country committing to provide one-third of them to Ukraine's defence forces.

In addition, Carney announced closer cooperation with Ukraine in the production of unmanned systems.

"And thirdly, nation to nation, Canada and Ukraine are forging a long-term partnership to jointly produce uncrewed systems, counter drone technologies, priority munitions, combining your battlefield experience with Canadian manufacturing software and AI," he added.

Zelenskyy is in Canada on a three-day visit with First Lady Olena Zelenska.
During the visit, Zelenskyy and Carney signed a declaration on a 100-year partnership, which expresses the two countries' intention to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
