Zelenskyy arrives in Canada, set to attend events in three locations

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is in Canada for a three-day visit accompanied by First Lady Olena Zelenska.

Details: The Ukrainian president and first lady's visit will run from 9 to 11 September and will include events at three different locations: Calgary (Alberta), Toronto; and North Bay (Ontario). Zelenskyy is also due to attend a meeting of the Canadian government.
"President Zelenskyy will also address Cabinet members at the Cabinet Planning Forum in Banff. The visit's programme will focus on shared priorities between Canada and Ukraine, including deepening defence, economic, and energy cooperation. It will also address the human cost of Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and build on the strong people-to-people ties that connect our countries," the government announcement said.
"The visit underscores Canada's continued leadership in supporting Ukraine and reflects our unwavering commitment to a just and lasting peace. [...] Canada remains steadfast in our commitment to support Ukraine's defence, recovery, and reconstruction," the statement added.
Background:
- As previously reported, on his way to Canada, Zelenskyy stopped in Iceland, where he met the country's foreign minister.
- Before that, Zelenskyy and the first lady were on a two-day visit to Norway, primarily to attend the funeral of King Harald V. The Ukrainian president also held a series of meetings, including talks with defence company executives on the Freya anti-ballistic missile programme.
