Brigadier General Prokopenko takes command of newly formed Azov group of forces

Brigadier General Denys "Redis" Prokopenko began commanding the Azov group of forces on 13 September.

Details: On 26 August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Prokopenko would command one of two newly formed groups of forces in Donetsk Oblast.
In April 2025, Prokopenko was appointed commander of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.
Azov said that under Prokopenko's leadership, the unit had evolved from a volunteer formation into a professional combat formation.
Background: The 425th Skelia Separate Assault Regiment is being transferred under the operational command of the 1st Azov Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine.
