Russia attacks vessel bound for Ukrainian port: captain killed

The captain has been killed and three crew members have been injured in a Russian drone attack on a civilian vessel flying the Tanzanian flag as it headed for a Ukrainian port.

Details: The strike occurred on 17 September. Information is currently being gathered on the condition of the vessel.

The ministry pointed out that Russia is relentlessly attacking Ukrainian ports, port infrastructure facilities and civilian merchant vessels, posing a threat to international shipping in the Black Sea.

Background: In July, Russian missiles hit the cargo vessel Golden Leo near the port of Odesa. Nine crew members and a Ukrainian sea pilot were killed at the time, with eight sailors rescued.
