Ukraine signs agreement with Polish energy giant Orlen

During the Carpathian Eight Summit on Friday 18 September, Ukrainian gas company Naftogaz Group and Poland's state-owned energy company Orlen signed two memorandums on supplying energy resources to Ukraine.

Details: The first memorandum concerns the supply of three cargoes of liquefied natural gas in the first quarter of 2027.

The second memorandum with Orlen was signed by Ukrnafta, part of the Naftogaz Group; it provides for the supply of petroleum products for Ukraine worth US$500 million.

Serhii Fedorenko, acting Chairman of the Board of Naftogaz, added that the companies are working through options for supplying Ukrainian crude oil for processing at oil refineries in Central Europe.

Another area of co-operation is the transfer of used fuel tankers to Ukraine, which will help compensate for losses from Russian attacks and strengthen petroleum product logistics.

Background: The Naftogaz Group signed a memorandum with the Budapest-based oil and gas company MOL Group regarding the construction of facilities to store petroleum products for Ukraine's needs in Hungary near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border.
