Kremlin reacts to Trump signing sanctions law: "Unlikely to contribute to Ukrainian settlement"

Dmitry Peskov, press secretary for the Russian leader, has said the US president Donald Trump's signing of the sanctions law against Russia contributes neither to "reviving bilateral relations" nor to a peaceful settlement of the Russia-Ukraine war.

Quote from Peskov: "As for signing this document, it certainly doesn't contribute to restoring our bilateral relations. And, of course, it's also unlikely to contribute to more successful progress towards a Ukrainian settlement."

Details: However, he claimed that the sanctions supposedly do not significantly affect life in Russia.

• On 19 September, US President Donald Trump signed a bill on sanctions against Russia, co-authored by the late Senator Lindsey Graham.
