Zelenskyy: We are ready not to strike Russian energy facilities if they do not strike ours

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the US will convey Ukraine's proposal for an energy truce to Russia.

Quote: "We are ready. I'm not sure Russia is ready as of today, but anyhow, we spoke about an energy ceasefire. We are ready for an energy ceasefire if they do not attack our energy system, our electricity, heating, and water supply.

This is our proposal. We are thankful to the American side. They will share it with the Russians. I don't know the Russian position."

Details: Zelenskyy added that he is grateful to the US side for conveying this proposal to Russia.

He also expressed hope that the US will find a way to bring Russia and Ukraine to negotiations.

He said he had discussed the winter with his US counterpart Donald Trump, including a package of missiles for Patriot air defence systems.

According to Zelenskyy, nobody said no when asked about supplying Ukraine with the missiles, but there was no specific answer.

Zelenskyy also said that Trump had not asked Ukraine to unilaterally stop strikes on Russia. Instead, they had discussed an energy truce.

Zelenskyy believes Putin will tell everyone that he is ready to end the war before the elections. However, he said that after the elections, there will be attacks, with Putin then claiming that they had been carried out because of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy added that there had been an attack the previous night and that Ukrainian intelligence already knew that the Russians were saying it had supposedly been carried out because Ukraine had attacked during the elections.

Background: Before the conversation, US President Donald Trump said he would discuss with Zelenskyy the possibility of granting Ukraine licences to produce missiles for Patriot systems.
