Drone fragments found near Moldovan village

On the evening of 26 September, Moldovan border guards discovered fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle outside the village of Volintiri in Ștefan Vodă District.

Details: Fragments of an unidentified drone were discovered at around 20:25 after local residents alerted the authorities.

Border guards immediately cordoned off the area. The necessary measures are currently being taken to establish all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Moldova's Border Police said that, in cooperation with other competent authorities, it was continuously monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with the relevant Ukrainian authorities.

Law enforcement officers urged the public not to approach or touch possible fragments of aircraft, ammunition or other unidentified objects. Anyone who discovers such objects is advised to move away from the area and immediately call 112.

It is worth noting that earlier the same day, amid Russian attacks on Ukraine, an unidentified drone illegally entered Moldovan airspace. The object reportedly entered the country's airspace at 11:16, approaching from the direction of Stepanivka in Odesa Oblast, Ukraine, and crossed the state border towards Novokotovsk in the unrecognised breakaway region of Transnistria.

At 11:18, the object left Moldovan airspace, crossing the border towards Lymanske in Odesa Oblast.

It was also reported that an unidentified object violated Romanian airspace overnight on 26 September, prompting allied fighter jets to be scrambled.

On 18 September, police found drone fragments near Chișinău.
