Details: The procurement of interceptor drones was announced by Germany's Chancellor Friedrich Merz during his visit to Kyiv on 4 October. Berlin will fund drones developed by the Quantum WIY Industries team, which is a joint project of Ukraine's WIY Drones and Germany's Quantum Systems.
Quote from press service: "The drones will be produced in Ukraine, so the manufacturing of interceptors will expand precisely as the need for protection against Russian strike drones grows. Thanks to this order, production of the interception systems already in use in Ukraine will scale up."
Details: Merz also met with representatives of the German company during his visit to Kyiv. Specifically, the manufacturers plan to expand UAV production in Ukraine in response to the intensifying Russian attacks involving jet-powered drones.
Quote from Sven Kruck, Co-CEO of Quantum Systems: "Ukraine needs interceptor drones at an industrial scale. By expanding production in Ukraine, we can respond more quickly to the immediate threat while simultaneously building industrial capacity that will also strengthen Germany and its allies."
Details: Furthermore, the company said that Quantum Systems signed a memorandum with Ukraine's Fire Point at a defence industry roundtable attended by Chancellor Merz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The companies will jointly develop unmanned technologies and assets to counter modern aerial aircraft," the press service said.
