Ukraine ready for five ceasefire arrangements, but Russia must agree – Foreign Ministry

Ukraine is ready for five ceasefire arrangements with Russia developed jointly with other countries, but their implementation requires Russia to agree to them.
Source: Ukrainian public broadcaster Suspilne; Novyny.LIVE, citing comments by Ukraine's Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi to journalists
Quote from Tykhyi: "At present, there are five different ceasefire arrangements that Ukraine is ready for and that are being worked on in different formats...
Constructive engagement and steps from the Russian side are needed for this ceasefire to take effect, but on the Ukrainian side there is indeed readiness and a constructive approach in these areas."
Details: The spokesman said diplomats had prepared a broad range of possible solutions.
The first option is a general, unconditional and complete ceasefire, which Ukraine agreed to back in 2025 during talks in Saudi Arabia. Tykhyi said this agreement remains valid and would take effect if Russia agrees to it as well.
Two other proposals, being worked on by Türkiye and Egypt with the involvement of Ukrainian diplomats, concern the Black Sea. Tykhyi described these options as mutually beneficial and realistic, but said they also require the Russian side's consent to be implemented.
The fourth area is India's work on finding solutions concerning food security in the Black Sea and in the energy sector.
During the recent engagements between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump, the possibility of working towards an energy truce was also discussed. This is the fifth ceasefire option.
Tykhyi concluded by saying that recent attempts to shift blame for the continuation of the war from Moscow to Kyiv were a cynical exploitation of people's fatigue for political purposes.
Background:
- On 2 October, Oleksii Honcharenko, a member of parliament from the European Solidarity party, posted his vision for ending the war and advised negotiating with Russia "about everything under the sun", saying Ukraine is losing the war.
- Commenting on calls from some MPs to halt hostilities and negotiate with Russia, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine could not bend to Russia.
- Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha outlined four possible ceasefire arrangements with Russia. He stressed that Ukraine is ready for different formats, but only if the ceasefire covers both energy infrastructure and the Black Sea.
- On 4 October, Zelenskyy said Ukraine is ready to take part in a trilateral meeting with the US and Russia at the technical level.
