Details: Astra said its Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) analyst had established from footage filmed by eyewitnesses that the fire had broken out on the premises of the Sasta machine-tool plant. According to Wikimapia, the Yandex DC data centre is also located at the plant. Last month, data centre employees themselves demonstrated its equipment and explicitly stated that it was located in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast.

The Sasta plant specialises in the production of CNC (computer numerical control) metalworking machines. The company's equipment is used in Russia's defence, aerospace, transport and heavy industries.

Astra explains that Sasta's importance to Russia's defence industry lies not in producing finished weapons, but in providing the manufacturing base, as its machines are needed to produce high-precision metal parts and components. Sasta previously supplied specialised machinery to State Corporation for Space Activities (Roscosmos) facilities.

The company is also subject to international sanctions imposed by Canada, Switzerland, the EU, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, the US and Japan.

Meanwhile, Exilenova+ reported that "the Sasta machine-tool plant in Sasovo, Ryazan Oblast, has been hit".

"Missiles or jet-powered UAVs have probably been used to strike Sasovo in Ryazan Oblast," Exilenova+ suggested.

In addition, a major outage occurred at Yandex following the attack on its data centre in Sasovo.

"Power supply disruptions" were recorded, making a wide range of Yandex Cloud infrastructure unavailable.

The problems affected computing capacity, networks, data storage, databases, Kubernetes containerised application management platforms, cloud services, AI, and security and monitoring systems.
