Details: The ministry said Sybiha will brief his European counterparts on the escalation of Russian aggression that has led to a large number of civilian casualties, the primary needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the development of peace efforts.
Key topics will include increasing pressure on Russia, developing defence cooperation, and advancing Ukraine's EU membership negotiations.
Sybiha will highlight the need to strengthen sanctions, fully utilise frozen assets, protect Ukrainian airspace, unblock Ukrainian food exports, bolster energy resilience, and open the remaining EU accession negotiating clusters.
Sybiha will hold a series of separate bilateral talks with his European counterparts on the sidelines of the event. His programme also includes meetings with senior officials from Luxembourg.
Background:
- On 12 October, the EU Foreign Affairs Council will discuss the possibility of introducing further restrictions on the movement of Russian diplomats between EU member states, potentially including a complete ban on travel outside the country to which they are accredited.
- The foreign ministers of the EU member states are also set to approve 1,646 new listings – the largest ever amount of Russia sanctions approved at once.
