EU announces joint Ukraine-EU task force to advance justice and anti-corruption reforms
Ukraine and the European Union have agreed to form a task force to help Ukraine meet interim EU accession benchmarks and advance rule-of-law and anti-corruption reforms.

Details: Kos said the launch of the task force had been agreed during a conversation with Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi.
Quote from Kos: "Ukraine is among the countries making most progress towards EU membership. Following the opening of two more negotiating clusters this week, I discussed the next steps with PM Serhii Koretskyi. We agreed to launch a joint Task Force to accelerate progress on the interim benchmarks and advance essential rule of law and anti-corruption reforms."
Details: Noting that success will require unity and commitment from all involved Ukrainian partners, Kos said evidence of this had been seen recently when the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's Parliament, passed new laws on education for national minorities.
Background:
- On 12 October, the Verkhovna Rada adopted amendments to the law on education in a bid to secure Hungary's consent to the opening of the second and third negotiating clusters in Ukraine's EU accession talks.
- On 13 October, the Council of the European Union officially opened two more clusters in Ukraine's EU accession negotiations.
