The system was attacked 12 kilometres from the line of contact after the Drakon had been observed firing.

"We have struck a Russian TOS-3 Drakon heavy flamethrower system for the first time – the enemy's latest development. This is yet another result of the 3rd Corps' systematic efforts to destroy enemy weapons and weaken its combat capabilities," the 3rd Army Corps commented on the strike.

According to the 3rd Army Corps, the TOS-3 Drakon is the latest development in the heavy flamethrower system family, which includes the Solntsepyok and TOS-2 Tosochka. The new model is equipped with slat armour and explosive reactive armour.

The system fires unguided thermobaric rockets from 15 launch tubes. The TOS-3 Drakon has an estimated range of 15 km and needs a crew of three.

  • Earlier, Oboronka, Ukrainska Pravda's defence section, reported that Ukrainian troops had deployed ground robotic systems behind Russian lines during Operation Vivaldi in northern Donetsk Oblast. The manoeuvre enabled Ukraine's defence forces to liberate two villages and clear a third.
  • During the 3rd Army Corps' Operation Vivaldi, fighters from the NC13 strike ground robotic systems unit upgraded ground-based kamikaze drones with two grenade launchers and used new strike tactics.
