President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes Ukraine's relations with neighbouring Poland have improved recently, noting that the two countries share a common enemy: Russia.

Details: Zelenskyy was asked whether his resumption of trips abroad via Rzeszów Airport reflects an improvement in relations with Poland and whether further signs of closer ties could be expected.
In response, he noted that "our relations with Poland have indeed improved".
Quote from Zelenskyy: "I'm very grateful for this to both Poland and our teams, and I'm grateful to the Prime Minister [Donald Tusk – ed.]. I'm grateful to the people of Poland for supporting Ukraine. It's very important for us to be together right now. There is only one enemy – Russia, which is deeply concerned about a strong alliance between Ukraine and Poland."
Details: Zelenskyy stated that both countries simply need to strengthen their relations and resolve any problematic issues more calmly.
"Even very difficult things, we'll resolve them, I'm sure of it... These will be mutually beneficial relations, out of respect, because of the importance of security in Europe," he added.
Background:
- On 14 October, for the first time since the start of the scandal over the Order of the White Eagle, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy departed for an overseas trip from the airport in Rzeszów.
- Relations between Ukraine and Poland seriously deteriorated in late May and early June when Polish President Karol Nawrocki decided to strip Zelenskyy of the Order of the White Eagle due to the naming of a military unit in honour of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) heroes.
- On 7 June, Zelenskyy flew to the UK via Chişinău Airport in Moldova, having previously used Rzeszów Airport in Poland regularly for trips abroad.
- All of the president's subsequent overseas trips departed from Moldova or Romania. It was not until late July that Zelenskyy flew into Lublin on his return from the United States, as he had a meeting with Donald Tusk scheduled there.
