Details: According to Astra, a fire broke out at the oil refinery in Ryazan, which supplies aviation fuel and diesel to the Russian forces.
At around 02:00 local time, an air-raid warning was issued in Ryazan and the surrounding area. Shortly afterwards, local residents began reporting numerous explosions, air defence activity and the sound of UAVs.
Supernova+ also posted a video of a fire at the Ryazan Oil Refinery (Ryazan Oil Refining Company). An OSINT analyst from Astra confirmed that the refinery was on fire.
The refinery is one of Russia's largest oil refining facilities and is part of Rosneft, a major Russian oil company.
According to publicly available data, the refinery is located in the Yuzhny Promyshlenny Uzel (Southern Industrial Hub) of Ryazan. It has a processing capacity of approximately 17-18 million tonnes of crude oil per year.
The refinery produces petrol, diesel, aviation kerosene, fuel oil and bitumen. It supplies fuel to Moscow and Russia's central regions and also produces fuel for the Russian Ministry of Defence.
In 2014, the facility announced that it had developed experimental batches of petrol specifically for the ministry. The fuel was produced to meet additional requirements for the Russian Armed Forces' military equipment. The refinery also produces jet fuel, including TS-1, which is used by military aircraft.
Update: Telegram channels also reported that a logistics centre in Ryazan belonging to Russia's largest online retailer Wildberries may be on fire.
In the morning, Ryazan Oblast Governor Pavel Malkov confirmed that the region had come under a drone attack.
He said that power lines had been damaged and fires had broken out at industrial facilities.
