Interior Ministry: Murder of Journalist Aims to Destabilize the Country
The murder of journalist Pavel Sheremet is a crime aiming to destabilize the situation in the country, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs Artem Shevchenko wrote on Facebook.
He expressed condolences to family and friends of the journalist on behalf of Ministry, and ensured that the law enforcement agencies will do their best to solve this crime.
The murder has already been classified according to Clause 2.5 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine "premeditated murder carried out with a method that endangers the lives of many people," Kyiv City Prosecutor Roman Hovda reported from the scene.
The Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov informed that the top officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Security Service of Ukraine were working on site.
