Verbatim: "We have been doing everything to prevent Chernihiv from becoming Mariupol for several weeks (while we are working on Mariupol as well). The situation in Chernihiv is really tense, but we are grateful to the Mayor and the Head of Military Administration. They are working in tandem and are doing everything they can to help people."

"Indeed, there is no electricity and water supply, but a lot of humanitarian aid has been sent to Chernihiv city and Chernihiv oblast during the past weeks, thanks to the efforts of Ukrzaliznytsia and road transport, so that people have something to eat and drink."

"We have been trying to negotiate and open a corridor from Chernihiv for the last few days. Unfortunately, the aggressors are firing artillery at all the passages from Chernihiv city to Kyiv."

"We could evacuate people a week ago and we did. Now there is no centralised exit passage - only volunteers, and people moving on their own can leave the city of Chernihiv through uncoordinated corridors. However, we are doing everything to ensure that there is food in Chernihiv, that there are warm clothes and water. "

Earlier, Chernihiv Mayor, Vladyslav Atroshenko described the humanitarian catastrophe in an interview with ‘Ukrayinska Pravda,’ as well as the offers to surrender he received several times.
