Russian armed forces increase shelling of Chernihiv and are strangling Mariupol, but they are encountering resistance

Russian troops have increased the number of strikes on Chernihiv. Hostilities continue in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions.

Kyiv region
Air raid sirens were heard throughout the region overnight. There was a battle in Irpin and Hostomel. Constant artillery shelling continues. The village of Yasnohorodka in the Fastiv district has been shelled. Shelling in Kotsiubynske in the Bucha district has resulted in fatalities. Information on civilian casualties is being clarified. There are no data on what damage it has caused.

Chernihiv region
The defence of Chernihiv continues. Russian armed forces have sharply increased the shelling of residential and industrial areas in Chernihiv. It became especially intense in the evening. An ammonia pipeline was damaged at one of the largest food industry factories in Chernihiv in the evening of March 23.
Emergency response teams were working at the site. No ammonia leaks were recorded. Local people were informed about emergency procedures in case of a chemical threat. Information on damage due to shelling is being clarified.

Zhytomyr region
The night was not quiet. There were several air-raid alerts. An industrial facility in the Novohrad-Volynskyi district was hit in a missile strike. No one was killed or injured.

Kirovohrad region
The night passed quietly.

Dnipropetrovsk region
There were a few air raid-alerts at night, and it became quiet in the morning.

Sumy region
Apart from the Okhtyrka district, where the hostilities and the movement of Russian military columns continued, the region was relatively quiet overnight. There is currently no information on damage or casualties among civilians.

Kharkiv region
The number of long-range attacks on Kharkiv increased at night, but there was no enemy breakthrough as the Armed Forces of Ukraine were in their defensive positions.
In the region, hostilities continued in the Izyum district. Two occupiers' planes were shot down there yesterday. In the evening, Staryi Saltov was shelled, there were casualties, and one person died.

Zaporizhzhia region
The situation is under control. The night was relatively quiet.

In the Volyn, Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk regions the night passed quietly.

Luhansk region
There was shelling in Sievierodonetsk, Lysychansk, Rubizhne, Kreminna, Novodruzhesk, Voievodivka.
According to local authorities, the outskirts of Rubizhne were hit by phosphorus bombs. Four people have died, two of whom were children, and six are wounded.

Donetsk region
The situation is tense. There are battles in Avdiivka and Ocheretyne.
Bakhmut was shelled on Wednesday.
Mariupol is besieged but is still resisting the occupiers. Unfortunately, no humanitarian aid arrived.
Marinka is being destroyed by the occupiers - they are advancing, but the Armed Forces of Ukraine are holding them back.

Mykolaiv region
In the Mykolaiv region, the night passed rather quietly, despite air raid sirens. Work is underway to restore power supply to localities which suffered outages.

Kherson region
The situation in the region remains difficult. Shots and massive explosions took place at night in Chornobaivka. There were reports of explosions in communities near Snihurivka and on the border with the Dnipropetrovsk region.
An update on the abductions: Oleksandr Knyha, a theatre director, was released late last night.

Odessa
The situation is under control. There was an air-raid alert in the morning.
