The mayor of the Ukrainian city Energodar, Dmytro Orlov, said that about 100 units of Russian troops have entered the city. Residents are trying to resist, and the battle continues at the checkpoint.

Details: At 4:46 p.m. the mayor said that a column of Russian occupying forces comprising "more than 100 units of heavy equipment" was pushing into Energodar, and he asked residents to leave the streets immediately, not to use elevators, and to stay away from windows in apartments.

At 16:51 Orlov said: "About 100 units of armoured vehicles have just entered Energodar. They are being opposed by civilians. Civilians are being fired on. Energodar."

Details: Orlov also said that "a battle is going on at the checkpoint. The Ukrainians are doing everything in their power to prevent the enemy from penetrating further."

According to preliminary information, several houses on Kashtanovy Boulevard and Molodizhna Street have been damaged during the shelling. It is not specified whether there are any wounded. On Kashtanovy Boulevard a house has been hit, and the 7th floor is on fire.

The enemy shell has hit the territory of 2 schools.

Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Denysenko said: "Unfortunately, the situation in Energodar is very serious now. As far as we understand, the Russians have been instructed to shoot at the civilian population - and probably it will be almost impossible to stop them by any rallies or peaceful marches."

On the eve of 2 March, residents of Energodar went out unarmed to meet the Russian occupiers to show their attitude to the aggressor.
