Soloviov's two villas worth 8 million euros on Lake Como have been frozen by Italian police. The operation was conducted by servicemen of the special unit of the Financial Guard.

Actions such as these are being taken to enforce sanctions imposed by the Ministry of Economy on the wealthiest Russians. The European Union imposed sanctions on the oligarchs on 23 and 28 February.

The servicemen also seized the villa of 68-year-old steel magnate Alisher Usmanov in Arzacheni, Sardinia. The value of the property is estimated at 16 million euros.

Usmanov –founder of USM Holdings and subsequent billionaire– is one of Russia's richest businessmen and a close ally of Putin. Soloviov –a TV presenter and propagandist– is also close to Putin.

Previously: On the eve, following the European Union, the United States imposed sanctions on oligarchs from Putin's closest surrounding and their families. Alisher Usmanov, one of Russia's richest men, is among those under sanctions.

His property in the United States will be blocked from use, as well as his yacht which was previously confiscated in Germany, and his private plane, which is one of Russia's largest.
